Hand Building & Smoke Firing - South West France
11th - 17th June 2017
We will be using traditional pottery techniques, such as coiling and slabbing, looking at forms suitable for smoke firing and exploring different ways of creating unique surface patterns, including burnishing. The work will then be bisque fired to a 1000°C whilst we collect plant and other material to surround the work in the smoke bins which will be lit towards the end of the week. The excitement of pulling your work out and discovering it's transformation gives a real buzz at the end of the course.
Tuition will be structured in a similar fashion to Sylph's other courses with 20 hours of tuition and a workshop available until 9 pm. If you have any questions regarding the course please do get in contact with me here.
